the project

This project is a transformation of an existing house composed of simple cubic volumes, originally built in a residential area of Wrocław. The design approach was to revamp the structure with a contemporary architectural language while preserving its original geometry.

The concept is based on a clear material contrast between two types of wood: charred Douglas fir and natural Siberian larch. The blackened Douglas defines the main volumes, giving the house depth, texture, and a strong, modern identity. In contrast, the blonde Siberian larch is used for frames and detailed elements, bringing warmth and balance to the composition.

Large glazed openings connect the interior and exterior spaces, allowing natural light to interact with the materials throughout the day. The darker surfaces absorb light and emphasize the volumes, while the lighter wood highlights transitions and creates a more approachable scale.

The project focuses on modernity and durability, and a precise use of natural materials to create a modern home adapted to its residential context.
