With its soft and subtle hue, the Douglas Gray transforms your cladding into a modern and elegant feature. This refined finish highlights the natural grain of the wood while adding a contemporary and balanced touch to your project.
- Allow wood to acclimatize on-site for at least 5–7 days before installation.
- Orientation: horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, depending on design and/or profile.
- Use kiln-dried structural timber battens (C24) or an aluminium cladding system, spaced max. 400–600 mm, depending on board size.
Ensure continuous rear ventilation with a minimum 20 mm air gap behind the cladding. - Install a UV-resistant façade membrane suitable for open-joint and ventilated rainscreen systems.
- Use flashing to protect open cavities and exposed areas where required.
- Use self-drilling stainless steel facade screws (grade A2 or A4); pre-drill where necessary to avoid splitting.
- Hidden clip systems may be used depending on the profile.
- Seal all saw cuts with a compatible touch-up or finishing oil to maintain performance and appearance.
Re-oiling every 4–5 years is recommended if colour retention is desired.
